I've had few reminders lately of something I already knew. I'm not a regular stereotype guy. I own an electric lawn mower...on purpose. I have the gas kind, but I also have my Dad's old electric model. It's all we ever used growing up. I never knew anything else. I also have a chain saw...and it's electric too! (insert guys' laughing here...) I guess it's strange for me to even have a chain saw. My mother-in-law was concerned about my using one. Karmen was too, but we won't go into that. My "little brother" wasn't surprised at all that my chain saw is electric. He was good. He held back his laughter - and just said shaking his head, "That doesn't surprise me." What - am I not "guy enough" because I don't have gas powered lawn tools? And why is my Mother-in-law worried about me even owning a chain saw? Hhmmm...
I also was reminded the other day how I'm not hunting/fishing guy. I was at church, and I went to join a conversation with 3 or 4 other guys. As I approched, I heard one guy talking about a fish pulling his line and the ensuing struggle.....and I walk right past. Nope. Can't relate here. I felt better when I had a great conversation with a guy who sent his turntable in for repairs. There we go! Let's discuss sound equipment, and home theaters, and music and entertainment. That's me! I still like "(insert Tim Taylor grunting sound effects her) POWER!!! I just like indoor toys instead. See - ya can't run a stereo system on gas!!!
